How
we operate The boat we
use is a Caine and Robertson 4500 catamaran. Bright, roomy and
stable with acres of deck space, it is the perfect platform for what
we do. It has 4 guest cabins, all with twin beds (and two with an additional
single), and their own loo and shower. Swanny skippers and there is a
cook who doubles as crew when required.
As of 2009 I am hoping we may from time to time have the odd expert onboard,
preferably local, such as ornithologists, icythologists, oceanographers
etc. There
are very well respected research establishments in La Paz and I hope we
shall draw these from those institutions. See the trips on the website
for details of any specialists joining us.
We take small groups of 8 and we operate only in the prime part of the
season. You will fly from home and overnight in LA or Mexico City or elsewhere depending on the flights and the following day fly to La Paz where you will be met at the airport and taken to a hotel where you will spend a night. (This is in case flights are delayed and ensures we do not miss a day on the boat). The following day you will be collected at 12.00 and go from there to the boat.
Once the appropriate papers are completed
and you have been given a briefing, we shall leave and from then on travel
where needed, our only concern to maximize the days whaling. Each night
is usually spent at a different anchorage and having left La Paz we shall
not see another town until we return.
Our main passion is to see animals and so if conditions are right we want
to be out and about. This can mean getting up early or staying out late,
not that you have to. It’s your holiday and you can stay in bed or
keep reading your book, but we will carry on. That’s not to say we
never stop, of course it is exciting to explore islands, snorkel on reefs
and to beach comb and we try to fit all that in as well. Because finding
animals is our main passion we do a lot of motoring. It is not possible
to achieve the same results under sail. We do sail occasionally, however
if you are keen on sailing this is probably not the holiday for you.
In order to make life simple for you, we include everything in the price,
transfers in La Paz, hotels, your drinks onboard etc etc. The only cash you will need is for is for a taxi and meals en route and souvenirs.
Having made a booking you will receive all the information you require.
If you wish to make different flight arrangements to the ones we offer,
please let us know when booking.
We are fully bonded members of ATOL (No.
6517) which gives you financial protection.
